The New History of Federalism: Fall 2024 Conference

 09/26/2024

While study of federalism was long mired in outdated, 19th-century paradigms, a rising generation of historians, political scientists, and legal scholars have, in recent decades, begun to imagine the field newly. In Fall 2024, the Kinder Institute, the Richards Civil War Era Center at Pennsylvania State University, and Oxford’s Rotheremere Institute will jointly host a conference featuring their innovative research. “The New History of Federalism,” which will take place from September 26-28 on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia, will bring together scholars studying federalism from a broad spectrum of chronological, disciplinary, and thematic approaches for a wide-ranging exploration of new directions in federalism studies in the 21st century.

A description of the conference and a tentative list of participants can be found on this page, which we will update with more information as we get closer to the conference date.
