Constitution Week at the Kinder Institute
With TCU's Gene Smith and Boston College's Mary Sarah Bilder
Though technically a few days late, the Kinder Institute will ring in the 230th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution with a pair of public lectures. On September 21, at 5:30 PM in Mumford Hall 133, Texas Christian University Professor of History Gene Smith will give a talk on the implications of the tumultuous incorporation of Louisiana and Missouri into the Union, and then on September 22, at 3:30 PM in Jesse Hall 410, Boston College Founders Professor of Law Mary Sarah Bilder will discuss her recent research on the nearly invisible, and until now unsuspected, layers of revision in James Madison’s Notes on the 1787 Constitutional Convention (click the links below for more information on each of the two Constitution Week lectures).
Both lectures are free and open to the public, and a small reception, to which all are invited, will follow Prof. Bilder’s lecture on 9/22.
