Constitutional Democracy for All

Students who can’t fit the BA into their already busy schedules can still take advantage of all that the Kinder Institute has to offer both in and outside the classroom through our Minor or Certificate, which are designed to give students the flexibility to shape their own courses of study on the history, theory, and practice of constitutional democracy around the globe.

Degree Logistics

Any class that applies toward the BA can also count toward the Minor or Certificate, allowing students to design an interdisciplinary sequence of classes that speaks to what interests them most about history, politics, government, law, and more. Students complete the Certificate with 12 credit hours of coursework and the Minor with 15 credit hours, which must include one of the many experiential courses that the Kinder Institute offers.

Preparing for the Future

In short, the Minor and Certificate are for anyone interested in learning more about the world around them. That said, we think the degrees’ specific focus on the origins and function of the United States’ democratic institutions and legal systems is of particular use for students who hope to pursue careers in law, public service and administration, social studies education, politics, and archival and museum studies.
