Travel the Globe with the Kinder Institute

Whether it’s ten days in Cape Town, South Africa, or a month living the life of an Oxford undergraduate, the Kinder Institute’s study abroad programs provide immersive experiences for students interested in comparative politics, global history, international relations, and more.

RACE & POLITICS IN SOUTH AFRICA

Starting with a ten-day trip to Cape Town in January and continuing with a writing-intensive spring semester seminar, participants in the Kinder Institute’s South Africa program study and produce original scholarship that examines the nexus between race and politics in the history of South Africa from before apartheid to the present.

STUDY IN OXFORD

The Kinder Institute runs three separate study abroad programs at Oxford: a weeklong Spring Break trip built into an on-campus seminar on global history; a monthlong summer school for MU Honors students; and a yearlong fellowship for undergraduates who display exceptional acumen in studying history.

Application season for the Kinder Institute’s study abroad programs runs from August-November through the MU Study Abroad Office. We will update this space with more information when those open.

Scholarship Opportunities

The goal at the Kinder Institute is to make study abroad accessible for every student, so participants in each of our study abroad programs are eligible to apply for need-based scholarships to help offset the costs of travel, course fees, and summer tuition.
