Ranging from full tuition and waivers packages to generous partial scholarships to help offset the cost of grad study, the Kinder Institute is excited to offer a variety of funding opportunities for students who are pursuing our MA in Atlantic History & Politics or a PhD in History or Political Science at Mizzou.
MA Funding
Students interested in our MA in Atlantic History & Politics must apply by the January priority deadline in order to be considered for one of the funding packages described below:
TA and Graderships
Students with TA and grader positions receive full tuition and waivers for leading a section of the US History survey or Intro to Government lecture at the department level, or for assisting with instruction for specific Kinder Institute-branded courses.
Kinder Scholars Program Assistant
Kinder Scholars alumni who pursue the MA are eligible to receive full tuition and waivers for assisting with administration of that program, including helping with recruitment, TAing for the one-credit hour spring course associated with the program, and serving as an RA over the summer in DC.
ASH Scholars Fellowships
The Kinder Institute offers generous partial scholarships in the fall and spring to students who help faculty lead one of our three (and counting) ASH Scholars undergraduate research teams.
Corpus and BrANCH Fellowships
The Kinder Institute partners with Corpus Christi College and the Society of British American 19th-Century Historians to provide full tuition and waiver packages, along with TA positions, for two students per year from the UK.
Applications Open
Applications for the 2026-27 MA Cohort will be reviewed on a rolling basis through March 31, 2026.
PhD students in History or Political Science can apply for Junior Dean fellowships, through which they offer administrative support for one of the Kinder Institute’s summer programs: the MA in Atlantic History & Politics, the undergraduate Oxford Summer School, or the Kinder Scholars DC Summer Program. In addition, one PhD student per year is selected for our Missouri Scholars Academy fellowship, through which they lead courses for the Honors College’s summer program for Missouri high school students, while another serves as a KICD Programming Fellow, assisting with coordination of academic events and major conferences. All fellowships come with full tuition and waivers, as well as office space on the fourth floor of Jesse Hall.
