Ideas That Sparked a Nation, Still Shaping the World

Since the beginning, the goal at the Kinder Institute has been to center the study and teaching of political history and political thought, starting by exploring the ideas and events that animated the founding of the United States and then tracing their reverberations over time and around the globe. Whether it’s through a talk in our Friday Colloquium Series, a class on the American Revolution, or a study abroad trip to Oxford, our hope is that participating in Kinder Institute programs puts students and community members in a better position to use the past to make sense of the present.

Engaging with the Kinder Institute

As outlined below, anyone interested in spirited, interdisciplinary examination of the history, theory, and practice of constitutional democracy has numerous pathways for doing so at the Kinder Institute, both in and outside the classroom.
