Biography

Kiraly Vega is an Honors College student at the University of Missouri, studying Mechanical Engineering, with minors in Constitutional Democracy and History. As a Stamps Scholar, she’s especially interested in how engineering connects to public policy and sustainability, particularly when it comes to issues of equity and access. Studying abroad in South Africa had a huge impact on her academic interests and inspired her research on water policy and environmental inequality, while also strengthening her interest in using engineering to create social and environmental change. On campus, she works as an undergraduate researcher at the Mizzou Motion Analysis Center and has also worked on sustainable infrastructure research in the Asphalt Pavement Innovation Lab in partnership with the Missouri Department of Transportation. She is involved in Deaton Scholars, the Kinder Institute Society of Fellows, the Mizzou Engineering Student Council, and the Tiger Pantry. After graduating, she hopes to work in green energy policy and focus on building more sustainable and equitable environmental systems.
