The “Struggle for Statehood” Traveling Bicentennial Exhibit Is Now in Columbia
About two years ago, in honor of the bicentennial, the Kinder Institute partnered with the Missouri Humanities Council to develop the “Struggle for Statehood” traveling exhibit, which gives a historically rich and candid look at all facets of the debates that raged and the issues that arose during Missouri’s battle for admission into the union, as well as how that tumultuous early history has shaped the state in the decades and centuries following.
As the press release below indicates, we’re delighted to announce that the exhibit has finally made it to our hometown. Starting on February 23, 2021, and running through March 26, 2021, it will be up at the State Historical Society of Missouri Center for Missouri Studies, 605 Elm Street in Columbia, directly north of the quad.
We invite any and all to visit the exhibit, but do consult the SHSMO website before heading downtown to familiarize yourself with all Covid-related safety guidelines that are in place there.
