For the past year, Kinder Institute Director Jay Sexton and a team of undergraduate researchers have been exploring the roots, as well as the local and global implications, of the deep-seated feud that played out during the 19th-century in the Kansas-Missouri borderlands. On Friday, September 5, from 2:00-3:00pm at the Missouri Theatre, the research team will not only share their findings but also ask us to consider how we remember the Border War today, what that means about our relationship to history, and, specifically, why this violent conflict has evolved into a shorthand for understanding one of college sport’s most longstanding and fiercest rivalries.

Joining them on stage for this installment of Campaign Kickoff Weekend festivities will be representatives from Mizzou Athletics and the MU Library, along with surprise guests. Advanced registration is required given space limitations, and anyone interested in attending can RSVP using the link at the top of this post.
