“The Last Class,” November 20 Kinder Institute-Ragtag Cinema Film Screening

 11/20/2025

The Kinder Institute is partnering with our longtime friends at Ragtag Cinema for a November 20, one-night-only screening of The Last Class, a documentary portrait of former Secretary of Labor and renowned educator Robert Reich’s preparation for his final turn in the classroom. Tickets can be purchased, and a trailer for the film can be viewed, here.

Film Description

Primarily known for his public service as Secretary of Labor during the Clinton administration, Robert Reich has always considered teaching his true calling. After over 40 years and an astonishing 40,000 students, Reich prepares for the last semester in his teaching career in this deeply personal documentary portrait of an educator distilling their wisdom for the last time. In the largest lecture hall on the UC-Berkeley campus, 1,000 students are witness to Reich’s final lecture in his “Wealth and Poverty” course.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Kinder Institute faculty.
