The annual James E. Fleming & Linda C. McClain Constitution Day Lecture is taking a new form this year. Rather than put on a public talk, for the eighth iteration of the event, the Kinder Institute has partnered with the MU Department of Theatre and Performance Studies to bring Heidi Schreck’s acclaimed play What the Constitution Means to Me to the stage in Columbia. Starring Mizzou alumna Megan Murphy Chambers, performances will be held September 17-20 at 7:30pm at the Rhynsburger Theatre. There will also be a September 21 Sunday matinee at 2:00pm. Reserve your tickets now using the link above.

Playwright Heidi Schreck’s boundary-breaking play breathes new life into our Constitution and imagines how it will shape the next generation of Americans. Fifteen-year-old Heidi earned her college tuition by winning constitutional debate competitions across the United States. In this hilarious, hopeful, and achingly human new play, she resurrects her teenage self in order to trace the profound relationship between four generations of women and the founding document that shaped their lives. Based in Nashville, TN, Mizzou alumna Megan Murphy Chambers (BA English), has traveled the world doing onstage, on-camera, and voiceover acting work. Find out more about Megan’s career.
