Dr. Thomas Kane named a finalist for the 2020 Mick Deaver Memorial Award for Student Relations Excellence!

We are thrilled to announce that our very own Dr. Thomas Kane was named a finalist for the 2020 Mick Deaver Memorial Award for Student Relations Excellence! The Mick Deaver award seeks “to honor a staff member who exemplifies Mick Deaver’s concern for fostering good relations with students.” Since he joined the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy at its inception, Dr. Kane has been vital to the success of our Kinder Institute undergraduate programming. From fostering excellence in student thinking and writing in the Journal on Constitutional Democracy course, to encouraging wide-open academic explorations in his Honors College tutorial at Uprise Bakery, Dr. Kane has helped Kinder Institute undergraduates stretch themselves academically. He has supported countless students in their current and future academic endeavors by meeting with prospective students; maintaining an enthusiastic open door policy for advising current students; writing countless recommendation letters for graduate school applications and post-undergraduate fellowships; and in his catch-up chats with alumni popping by on their return visits to campus. We could not be happier than we are to see Dr. Kane recognized as a finalist for this campus award!
