Introducing Professor Jay Sexton, Kinder Institute Endowed Chair in Constitutional Democracy

It’s with great pleasure that we officially announce that Professor Jay Sexton has joined the Kinder Institute as our first Chair in Constitutional Democracy. Formerly of Oxford University, where he served as a lecturer, tutorial fellow, and director of the Rothermere American Institute, Prof. Sexton is the author of The Monroe Doctrine: Empire and Nation in Nineteenth-Century America and Debtor Diplomacy: Finance and American Foreign Relations in the Civil War Era and the co-editor of Empire’s Twin: U.S. Anti-Imperialism from the Founding Era to the Age of Terrorism, with Ian Tyrrell, and The Global Lincoln, with Richard Carwardine. He will deliver the Kinder Institute’s inaugural Chair Lecture, “U.S. Constitutional Democracy and the World,” on November 1, 2016, at 4:00 PM in the Great Room at Reynolds Alumni Center.
